Desktop Excel me 30 saal se VBA ka raaj raha hai. Lekin modern enterprise workforce Excel for the Web, mobile devices, iPad aur cloud automated flows par operate karti hai jahan desktop COM/VBA execute nahi ho sakta.
Office Scripts Microsoft 365 ka modern, cloud-first automation platform hai jo TypeScript (JavaScript ka strongly-typed superset) par run karta hai.
| Capability | Legacy VBA | Modern Office Scripts |
|---|---|---|
| Language | Visual Basic for Applications | TypeScript / JavaScript |
| Execution Environment | Desktop Client RAM (Windows/Mac) | Microsoft 365 Cloud Sandbox (Browser & Cloud) |
| Web & Mobile Support | ❌ No (Desktop Windows only) | ✅ Yes (100% Native on Web, Mac, iPad, iOS, Android) |
| Scheduling & Triggers | Windows Task Scheduler / VBScript | Power Automate Cloud Flows (Automated, Webhook, Schedule) |
| Security & Macro Malware | Vulnerable to malicious macros | Zero malware risk (Cloud API permission sandbox) |
| Version Control | Binary .xlsm extraction required | Native text files stored in OneDrive / SharePoint |
Excel for the Web ya modern desktop Excel 365 me:
